Clobazam 10mg is a benzodiazepine indicated for the management of anxiety, tension, and psychosomatic complaints.
At this dose, it delivers moderate anxiolytic and muscle-relaxant effects, with a slower onset and longer half-life than midazolam, making it better suited for sustained symptom control. Its primary action is the enhancement of GABAergic neurotransmission, calming excessive neural activity.
Prolonged use can rapidly result in tolerance and physical dependence, with withdrawal symptoms including tremor, insomnia, and agitation if stopped suddenly. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver dysfunction or myasthenia gravis. Clobazam should never be combined with alcohol or sedatives because of additive CNS depression and overdose risk, and its use is generally limited to short-term treatment.
• Primary uses: Management of anxiety and tension.
• Onset: Slower than midazolam; long half-life.
• Warnings: Do not combine with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
• Risks: Tolerance, physical dependence, withdrawal, respiratory depression.
