Clinical response may take 2–4 weeks, and its long half-life helps reduce withdrawal effects. Common side effects include insomnia, nausea, headache, sexual dysfunction, and sometimes initial anxiety. It should not be combined with MAOIs or other serotonergic drugs to avoid serotonin syndrome.
